  3. 1.He'll succed in 'building a bridge'because sonny might help him go through his life, live together and since he understood the darkness and the pain sonny had,he will do something to make sonny feel good about himself. i know this because In the book he finally understood how sonny felt.

  4. No, he wont be successful in building a bridge between them even if he wrote a letter after long time. The main reason why he wrote the letter is, he wanted to share the news that his daughter died. There was nothing about establishing the realationship between them two. Also he might have written in his letter that his activities from the past was wrong.

  5. 1)yes, it would be a building bridge between each other since they atleast connect again face to face.He meets Sonny after jail which may create a possitive change in sonny's life interms of mentality develope that lead him to grow up brother's relation ship. So, this incident may have intended Sonny to keep in touch with his brother. Also , Sonny is a drug addicted person so this kind of brthers meeting help him to rlease from the drug feeling and connect to brotherhood relation ship.

  6. In response to Rukthanan: Sonny comes out of jail sometime after the two letters are exchanged. Do you really believe there won't be some sort of reconcilliation between the brothers?

  7. 1)He will succeed in building a bridge to his brother because in some lines it says that he has always his old memories in his mind. Also in some line it says "We were both too nervous to say anything more." It shows that they both feel guilty eachother. They both feel their mistakes, this might bring them together.

  8. 2)Baldwin describes the setting of the brothers' childhood neighbourhood to show the relationship between the brothers in their childhood to now.He might want to show by that, that they were close when they were younger, but they still remember those memories

  9. I agree with Amarakanthan because he has good supports to his statement and also there is a chance to bring them together. The meeting between them both might change their minds and bring them close.

  11. Sruthi,
Yes, Amar's support for his statements are pretty convincing...and we find out as we keep reading that it turns out the brothers do reconnect.
